Elephant shows are the closest thing to Whose Line is it Anyway, because we have 4 of your favorite NCT improvisers facing off in a head to head (to head to head) challenge to see who truly is the funniest! ...except the points don't matter of course and they are all given out on the whims of the host!  This show includes games you will only see at our October shows AND at the Spooky Elephant show YOU (the Audience) challenge the players for EVERY round… they have NO IDEA what you will throw at them! It’s the most spontaneous show possible!

The theatre itself gets in on the act with spooky décor and surprises at every turn. At the show, you will see games so spooky, so crazy, so dangerous that the cast of National Comedy Theatre can only bear to play them once a year! NCT invites the audience to come dressed up for the holiday, because at EVERY SpookTacular show there will be a costume contest and YOU (the Audience) will award an awesome prize pack to the best audience costume! Whats Up This Week... It's Mashy! It's Spooky! It's FULL of Improv Class and... It's AWESOME!

What is UP this week at NCT? I am so glad you asked... because it just so happens that I have assembled all of that information for you RIGHT HERE!

We're starting the fun times early this week, with an exciting Instant Improv Class on TUESDAY night, we're keeping the Halloweenie-ness going with MashTerpiece Theater on Thursday, of course the weekend is full of super exciting Competitive Comedy and we ALSO have a Saturday Instant Improv class just for beginners looking to try improv out! 

You have probably heard up talking about Instant Improv Class. Each one is an individual, drop-in type improv class that has a specific theme or focus for that day and that day only. 

These classes are great for anyone whose thinking about trying improv comedy classes, but wants to be sure before making a big time and financial commitment OR folks who have taken some improv classes and want to continue learning, on a more flexible schedule!

The next Instant Improv Class we have coming up is on Tuesday October 20th
Editing Scenes with Style!
Transitioning from one scene to another can be an exciting opportunity. Where should the story go from here? Should the characters move to a different place? A different time? Should we interchange the characters or start from scratch?  This class will give you the tools you need to edit scenes with finesse and style!

 Its the best of the worst of 90s horror television this week at Movie MashTerpiece Theater!

The Horrorland Horrors want you to come out and play, but be careful... sometimes fun and games end up being more than you bargained for!

Did you LOVE the cheesy, awful awesomeness of 90s horror TV for kids? We did. We're talking Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark! But at Movie MashTerpiece Theatre, we don't just show you the lamest movies and TV of all time, we ENHANCE it! All NEW dialogue is create LIVE as the movie plays!

Competitive Comedy hits the NCT Phoenix Main Stage showings on Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th. 

Friday we have Heath, Alex, Andre, Anthony, Derrick, Gretchen and Ricky facing off in order to win your laugher and applause.

Saturday Chico, Andre, Anthony, Ellen, Heath, Paul and Ricky will be out to impress the audience with Josh up in the booth as Mr. Voice! 

After that, we have another Improv Class coming up... this one is SPECIFICALLY for folks who want an improv class taste test... the Pepsi Challenge of comedy if you will!

Intro to Improv: Whats this All About?
Perhaps you have always wanted to take an improv comedy class… but just weren’t sure what its all about, how it all works or if it’s for you? This class is just for you! Test the waters in a fun, no pressure environment that will introduce you to the basics of improvisation and all that workshops and classes have to offer.

Here's whats happening the weekend of October 8th-10th!

THURSDAY -- October 8th
Its the monthly Improv Uncensored Show!
Come see the saucy side of National Comedy Theatre at the show with no Ref, no rules and no Brown Bag Foul... and no one under 18 admitted!
The show on October 8th features a host of spooky and spontaneous Halloween themed improv & sketch

comedy including: NCT LongForm Comedy Team, this specialized cast includes Andi Oliver, Anthony Thornton, Francis Zagarrigo, Heath Wilcock and Paul Broccolo. They will create an entire comedy show, full of nuance and surprise, based on just one audience suggesting!
Next up...Heath & Krissy Get Killed in which Heath Wilcock and Krissy Lenz expound upon the life of a made up human being... whilst endangering their lives themselves!
Last but not least we've got 80's Abridged... hilariously dramatic readings of your favorite terrible HORROR movies. This week its Friday the 13th! The cast includes Josh Cox, Krissy Lenz, Andi Oliver, Francis Zagarrigo adn Gretchen Kinder!

Friday October 9th --
Competitive Comedy at 7:30pm & 9:45pm
...you have to pay for the entire seat, but this comedy is going to be so exciting and spontaneous.. you're only going to use the EDGE! On the schedule this Friday we've got Anthony, Bob, Francis, Heath, Jordan, Krissy & Ricky!

Saturday October 10th

we're starting out the day with Instant Improv Class! 
The topic for this Saturday is... Guessing Games, the Mystery Behind the Magic!
If you have always wondered HOW we do the amazing guessing games we play at the show... this class will break it down for you in fun, no pressure games and exercises!

This month's second show is our first official Halloween themed event... Ernest Abridged- Ernest Scared Stupid.... a hilariously over-dramatic theatrical retelling of Ernest P Worrell's attempt to thwart an evil Halloween troll!
Whose in the cast of Erenst Abridged this time around? We've got Krissy, Andre, Jordan, Josh and Tricia- doing double duty in this month's Two Show Thursday!

Well... I mean, not literally... we will be cranking the AC, as always. I just mean, the quality of the comedy will be, you know, very hot. You get it... you see what I'm saying... right?
Anyway, on the schedule for this Saturday October 3rd we've got Andi, Anthony, Heath, Krissy, Dorian, Mike and our newest Main Stage player Sarah! Chico Talbert is up in the voice booth this Saturday night and its going to be a super great show.

High School Improv League is Ready to GO! ...and This Might Be the Biggest Year Ever!

Its pretty exciting. 

At this point, everyone has been back in school for a little while. Teachers are getting settled in, kids are getting in the groove... and that means its time for High School Improv League!

National Comedy Theatre's High School Improv League has been going strong and growing every year since 2008. Here we are coming up on our 7th HSIL Season in 2015-16 and its shaping up to be the biggest year yet. 

Schools that participate in the Leauge get a dedicated coach who comes out to class 5 times throughout the school year for 2 hours of customized, professional improv training.... our coaches are ready to go! I know I am excited for my first class out at Gilbert High next week!

As the year goes on our League teams will participate in shows with their fellow League schools, presenting Competitive Comedy Shows together. These shows are super fun and spirited. We will be sure to keep you up to date on when they are happening at our schools around the Valley.  The League Team shows are probably my favorite part of the HSIL program, because each one is a mini-fundraiser for the school!
