"Who You Gonna Call?" Our Ghostbusters 2 Showing is THIS THURSDAY!

We're big Ghostbusters fans around here. Big, Big. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man size fans.

So, last spring when we met the AZ Ghostbusters at Phoenix Film Festival's Geek Day it was a total no-brainer to plan an anniversary screening of Ghostbusters 2!
Fun story, we also met the Educating [Geeks] at Geek Day... and they're part of the special Holiday Screening of Ghostbusters 2 as well.

The whole thing is really exciting. The AZ Ghostbusters have put together an awesome pre-movie slide show that includes behind the scenes photos, trivia, fun facts and other cool tid bits that only an

actual Ghostbuster would know. We've got an introduction video by the actress who played Slimer, and the AZ 'Busters are going to raffle off some super cool Ghostbusters stuff along with some NCT stuff... and this is all happening before the movie even starts!

Oh, also fun to do before the movie even starts, get your picture taken with the Ecto-1, the life-size Vigo the Carpathian portait or the actual human Ghostbusters... its all included with your ticket.

By the way, did we mention that your ticket is either $8, $6 if you donate food to United Food Bank or FREE if you donate a toy (new, unwrapped) to the peppedup.org toy drive? Yep.

During the movie all you have to do is, you know, ENJOY the movie.

AFTER the movie, you are invited to listen and participate as we record a LIVE podcast with
Educating [Geeks], an AZ Ghostbuster, our NCT Super Fan and First Timer. We will chat about our favorite characters, our favorite scenes, moments and bits as well as our LEAST favorite of all those things. We will discuss whether this is really a "christmas" movie and why it wasnt as successful as Ghostbusters.

and then, after that, if you aren't already just, so full of holiday wonder that you are just about ready to burst, then hang around for the Geekly Phoenix Holiday After Party. There will be surprise screenings of other Holiday Specials, games, and other forms of amusement.

If it sounds like fun, join us on Thursday!

THREE Show Thursday | National Comedy Theatre |

This Thursday! ...so much good stuff at Three Show Thursday!

We're starting off with TNT Improv Comedy. They've got some new players on the team, they are excited and ready to get out there and entertain you with some totally spontaneous hijinks.

Now, that might be enough show for some people. Some people might say, "Whoa. Hold it right there, because I, for one, have been thoroughly entertained and I'm not sure I can take anymore!"

We are not those people. We are the ones who say, "More! Bring it on! What else have you got?"

And we've got Ernest Abridged: Ernest Saves Christmas
I love Ernest Abridged almost as much as Ernest P Worrell loves Christmas.

Here is what we do: We take the movie Ernest Saves Christmas. We sift through it till we have the bones exposed and then we present you a 'readers theatre' style scripted dramatization of the story... its funny.

And now even those of you who were like "Gimmie More!" a minute ago might be going, "Surely, that is all the comedy we can take?!?"

...but it isn't. Because at this Three Show Thrusday we are ALSO presenting the premier of the Matthew Turner Experience...

Are you social? Are you antisocial? Either way, come and see The Matthew Turner Experience, a choice blend of stand-up and musical parody brought to you by the friendliest antisocial comic in the Phoenix Metro Area.

Its $8 and All Ages and you can get your tickets at http://www.nctphoenix.com/showtimes.html

TRAFFIC ALERT: An Exciting Adventure on your way to National Comedy Theatre

SO. As most hale and hearty SuperFans are already aware, the City of Mesa's  ongoing improvements  to Southern Avenue & the surrounding streets and intersections has made it tricky to get to NCT since June of last year.

The project is almost completed, at least in our neck of the woods, but what that means for us is that its about to get a whole lot crazier before it is over.

Get ready for some exciting adventures and detours the weekend of September 19th & 20th as Southern Ave will be closed between Dobson & Alma School after 8:00pm both nights.

But, but... isn't that exactly when National Comedy Theatre's Competitive Comedy Shows take place? And isn't Southern Avenue the best possible way to get to NCT?

Yes.

And... we are doing our best to make sure that YOU (the Audience) can get to the shows on time, to laugh it up with our award winning, professional improv comedy team.

Check out this map with alternate routes and detours:

Essentially, when visiting NCT on the 19th & 20th, plan on taking Broadway to Longmore and traveling South on Longmore. Take in the sights & sounds of the East Valley as you travel through the wilderness of residential neighborhoods. Stay alert and watch for dragons* as your journey leads you through a 4-way stop and past Adams Elementary School. Keep a wary eye out for speed traps** as you navigate the gentle curve of the road and, suddenly, NCT will appear, just behind a giant tree, on the East side of Longmore! You have made it!

*Dragons are fictional. You are unlikely to see actual Dragons.
**Speed traps are real... the limit is 25 MPH from Broadway to the 4 way stop and 35 MPH from the 4 way stop to NCT.

The Return of Spoof N Cinema! The Big Wheel & At War With The Army!

The process of creating Spoof N Cinema is so much fun.
Pure joy.... even when watching the movies is... painful. What could be better than sitting around with your funniest friends joking and laughing along with a terrible old movie. The movies themselves are, lets say.... interesting... because... hey things in the 40's & 50s were a little bit different and weird. Through the process of creating new characters and finding opportunities for music and sound effects, the final Spoof N Cinema process takes shape.

Join us for our next offerings!

The Big Wheel THIS THURSDAY! at 7:30pm only $8
Mickey Rooney is a race car driver struggling to live up to the memory of his father who may or may not have been killed in a racing accident by a "HooDoo Wagon" or an "evil tree" or "booze & broads." Will his achieve his dreams and also find love with the tom boy Lou? Find out all this and more at SPoof N Cinema The Big Wheel

Then, on Thursday Sept 25th at 7:30pm
 At War With The Army!
Martin & Lewis in a mad cap, musical adventure!

EVERY Spoof N Cinema Showing will have trivia & prizes provided by our friends at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange!
